Writer
I've written a number of essays over the years including work for Salon, Slash Film, Culture Ramp, and two books released by Chunklet.
Articles
An essay written during my ex-wife’s surgery went viral, and was the most read article on Salon that month, leading to more essays about her recovery.
I spent an evening amongst horror royalty covering the annual opening of Universal’s Horror Nights in Orlando for Slash Film.
Chunklet Books
Chunklet is a long-running magazine that satirically covers indie music and culture.
Recently I was featured on NPR's Weekend Edition with Scott Simon, Crash and Ride Podcast, and Obsessed Podcast.
A viral tweet of mine inspired a discussion regarding the presence of robots in Sylvester Stallone movies. For real.
HOMESTAR RUNNER MUSICAL COLLABORATOR
Since 2003 I have collaborated on numerous projects for popular online cartoon Homestar Runner, most notably composing and playing on several songs for the album 'Strong Bad Sings'. I have also performed on stage as part of Strong Bad's favorite hair metal band, Limozeen. (All this makes sense in context.)
Limozeen: Live at the 10 High – That’s me on the cover. We’ve continued to dust off our wigs every couple years.
“It's Like It Was Meant to Be”
A deeply sincere love song that came together within ten minutes of first arriving at the makeshift studio. I sat at the piano, played chords, and Strong Bad (site co-creator Matt Chapman) sang off the top of his head. Movie magic sans movie.
